Katsina Police Nab 331 Cattle Rustlers

No fewer than 331 suspected cattle rustlers have been arrested by the Katsina state Police Command, the Police Commissioner, Usman Ali Abdullahi has said.

Cattle rustling which has remained one of the major policing challenge in the state is being confronted through combined efforts of security personnel.

Determined to address the menace, the Security operatives launched a joint security patrol team named “operation sharar-daji”.

The CP told newsmen in Katsina that the Joint operation also recovered 4,088 animals in the state between January and February 2016.

According to the police chief, no fewer than 318 suspects were charged to court out of which 100 were convicted in line with the drive to stem the tide of cattle rustling.

He said most of the recovered animals had been handed over to their owners adding “several drugs including hemp, cough syrup, diazypam tablets and rubber solution have also been confisticated from peddlers”.

CP Abdullahi said the suspected drug peddlers attempted to bribe police officers with one hundred thousand naira.

The CP listed items recovered from the other criminals in the state to include seven stolen vehicles, four AK 47, double barrel guns and one locally made pistol.
