By SAMUEL ABULUDEGhana’s West African Middleweight boxer, Adjei Sowah, has promised his Nigerian opposite, Abolaji ‘Afonja Warrior’ Rasheed, in the forthcoming West African middleweight boxing title duel, that he wil beat him into a pulp and “make him see double.”
The encounter, which will headline the sixth edition of the GOtv Boxing Night slated for March 25 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, is viewed by Sowah as an opportunity to avenge the loss off fellow countryman, Alfred ‘Ahwor’ Quaye to Nigeria’s Waidi ‘Skoro’ Usman at the third edition of the boxing series.
Sowah, who spoke from his base in Accra, said: “I’m coming to show the guy who calls himself ‘Warrior’ that he is nothing but a ‘soft boxer’. I will avenge the loss of Quaye to Skoro and show the world that Nigeria still trails Ghana in boxing. He calls himself a ‘warrior’, but when he sees war in the ring, he will become scared and I will punch him until he starts seeing double.”
The Ghanaian claimed to have been watching the fights of his Nigerian opponent and concluded that he is still way below the standards of his previous opponents, whom he defeated.
“Ordinarily, he won’t go beyond three rounds, but I want the fans to enjoy the bout. I will prolong the punishment and punch him sufficiently to make him see double,” he bragged.
A few days back, Beninoise Djamiou Ekekpo also promised his Nigerian opposite, Olaide ‘Fijaborn’ Fijabi “the beating of his life”in the West African light welterweight title, while Hogan ‘Atomic Bomb’ Jimoh promised his opponent in the national lightweight challenge, Oto ‘Joe Boy’ Joseph that he would beat him “to show that the Atomic Bomb has returned.”
The best boxer of the event, which is scheduled for live broadcast by SuperSport in 47 African countries, will go home with N1m cash prize and the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.
