AWCON: Falcons’ll Get Job Done, Nwabuoku Assures
Mar 12, 2016
Captain of Nigeria’s senior women football team, Super Falcons, Evelyn Nwabuoku, has assured Nigerians that, in spite of the long break the team has had in recent times, the Falcons will be back to their best before they get into competitive games.
“The turn-out of players since we resumed and the kind of training we’ve been going through will ensure that we get back to our best in goo time and, I know, we’ll make Nigeria proud by qualifying for the AWCON later in the year.”
Be that as it may, the skipper cannot wait for the team’s foreign legion to resume camp.
“We need their experience. I am looking forward to their arrival, so that they can use their experience to help the team. The home-based members of the team will learn one or two things from them as well.”
She supported the statement credited to members of the coaching crew that no player is guaranteed any “automatic shirt”.
She said: “That’s football. The coaches are right in saying there won’t be an automatic jersey for any player. When the foreign -based arrive, they will have to prove that they deserve the jersey. They have to show that they want to play and that they are good enough to play too.”
