WHAT would have been a bloody clash on Tuesday was averted by police operatives in Asaba, Delta State, when two cult groups engaged in a cult war.
No fewer than five persons, including two brothers suspected to be leaders of the cult groups terrorizing residents of Cable Point area in Asaba, are now in police net in connection with the clash.
It was gathered that a sixth suspect was shot and apprehended while trying to escape arrest by police operatives. The suspect is presently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Asaba.
It was learnt that the suspects, who belonged to a cult group, were engaged in a power tussle with another cult group over who would control the area.
Another version had it that one of the groups was initiating of new members when arguments ensued.
The clash, according to residents of the area, almost marred business activities before the police came to restore by arresting the suspects.
