Organise education summit, Babcock VC urges Buhari

The Vice-Chancellor, Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, Prof. Ademola Tayo, has urged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to organise a summit to enable stakeholders to further discuss the future of education in the country.
Tayo made the appeal just as he noted that the university was committed to providing modern teaching and learning devices.
He stated this while speaking with journalists in his office on Friday.
According to him, the summit will enable stakeholders, for instance, to re-examine the nation’s curriculum and well as the training of teachers and staff, among others.
The VC, who hailed Buhari for preaching the message of moral rebirth, said he was worried about the rate of graduate unemployment in the country.
Apart from the core courses that the students learn, Tayo said, there was the need to expose them to entrepreneurial education.
Entrepreneurial training, he said, would save Nigerian youths and young graduates from hard times occasioned by unemployment.
On equipping students, the VC said the university was leveraging on modern information technology to make its students globally competitive.
He explained that the university was using cutting-edge technology in teaching and learning.
“Our e-learning keeps us apart from other tertiary institutions in the country. The university is into digital revolution in preparing its students to be globally competitive,” he added.
He also urged the Federal Government to seek a way of accommodating private universities in the Tertiary Education Fund allocation.
