Ondo strategic to Nigeria’s development –FG
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, has said Ondo State is strategic to the nation’s development, just as he described Niger Delta states as fundamental to the development of the country.
The minister, who spoke in Akure when he visited the state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, in company with his Minister of State, Prof. Cladius Daramola, said their mission to Ondo was to create a rapport between the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta and the Ondo State Government, being one of the Niger Delta states.
He, therefore, sought the cooperation of the state government in all areas of development.
Responding, Governor Mimiko stressed the need for the Ministry of Niger Delta to give priority to peaceful states like Ondo during the articulation and implementation of its projects. The governor noted that such measure would spur state governments and their people to prioritise peace as a panacea to sustainable development, submitting that his administration has given security its deserved attention, hence, the unprecedented development of the state.
He said the ministers had started right by seeking synergy in projects articulation and actualisation, adding that his administration was making municipal water available to the people of Ilaje and Ese-Odo in addition to the ongoing road projects in the areas.
The governor assured of adequate collaboration with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to ensure that the host communities enjoy the projects formulated by the ministry.
He said: “Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs must prioritise projects to areas that are peaceful for other states to see reason for maintaining peace in their areas. The peace we enjoy in Ondo State is due to our investment in security matter. We never take security for granted. We are the most peaceful state in the Niger Delta Region.
“Beyond politics, we will collaborate with you. Success for you in the area of your assignment is success for our state “ he submitted.
