Ahead of the 2016 governorship election in Edo State, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state, Chief Solomon Edebiri, has said the party will win the election if it fields the right candidate.
Speaking with Daily Sun, Edebiri, who said he is best suited to govern Edo State , noted that the people were already clamouring for his emergence as governor.
Consequently, he called on the PDP leadership in the state to field him as the party’s candidate, adding that with him as the gubernatorial flag bearer, victory was sure .
“The man on the street is our best friend. It is for them that we struggle; they are aware. They are the ones clamouring for Edebiri to come because they have heard about our vision; they are the ones insisting that they want Edebiri, that the PDP should give them Edebiri. And that if the PDP should bring Edebiri, they will vote for PDP.”
The governorship hopeful promised that if elected as governor, he would improve human capacity and infrastructure development in the state.
He also promised to invest massively in the sector if he becomes governor.
“I have a passion for the state to do something. To do something that is completely different that will turn the state around, to a state where we will put the people first. A state where we will realise that it is only on sound infrastructure that you can build a solid economy.
A state where we will realise that no economy can survive without sound human capacity. A state where we realise that it is better to be export base society than an import base society. A state where you will realise that the only antidote of progress, that will allow us to make progress, except saving, is industrialisation.”
“ We know what to do to change the healthcare system. The primary healthcare centre will be as good as any general hospital in the local government. So, we have a primary healthcare and a bigger centre; a major centre. We want to bring what is abroad here. That we can do diagnosis,”Edebiri said
