Ex-militant leaders shun meeting with Bayelsa CP

Scores of ex-militant  leaders in Bayelsa State yesterday shunned an invitation to meet with the Police Command  ahead of  the re-run election in 101 units of Ekeremor, Sagbama, Ogbia and Nembe and the whole of Southern Ijaw Local Government.
Though  Police’s invitation had indicated that the meeting was mandatory, Daily Sun investigation revealed that only two ex-militants, allegedly  believed to be sympathetic to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attended the meeting held behind closed doors.
Sources at the Police command confirmed that majority of the ex-militant leaders failed to show up for the meeting, a development that was said to have jolted the Commissioner of Police.
Spokesman to the command, Astimin Butwat, confirmed that the two ex-militant leaders attended the stakeholders meeting and that “the discussions were fruitful.”
