Super Eagles B rounded off their training programme in Pretoria, South Africa on Monday after they defeated Ivory Coast 1-0 in a final warm-up match before their departure to Rwanda.
The game played on Monday was dominated by the Eagles and the goal was only a matter of time. El Kanemi Warriors midfielder Ifeanyi Matthew made the difference with the match winner in the 45th minute courtesy of a neat finish.
On the match the Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh told The PUNCH in an exclusive interview that he was satisfied with the display put up by the Eagles.
“Yes I’m satisfied with the input and general organisation,” he said.
It was the second friendly match for the Rwanda-bound Eagles. Last week they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Angola. The two results mean that the Nigerians will arrive in Kigali as an unbeaten side. They are billed to leave South Africa on Friday.
Through the qualifiers to the African finals, the Eagles were also unbeaten. They defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 in Port Harcourt in the first leg before they held their West African rivals to a scoreless draw in Ouagadougou to qualify.
Eagles will kick off their 2016 CHAN campaign with a match against Niger in Kigali. They will also battle Tunisia and Guinea in the group phase of the competition.
The African event, reserved for players in their various domestic leagues, will start on Saturday.
