The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would not attempt to pay back the ruling All Progressives Congress in their coin by seeking to gain political mileage over the Government's failure to attain its target of wiping out Boko Haram by December.
Speaking while receiving a youth group, Northern Youth Network at the party's national secretariat in Abuja on Friday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh said the APC had made several promises and given deadlines on stamping out terrorism but had so far kept none.
However, Metuh said PDP was not about to take on the government over the fight against the terrorists, basing the action of the opposition party on patriotism and need to support the president to win the war.
"APC had promised that they were going to end insurgency in two weeks, they later said it will be over in two months and after that they now gave December 31 deadline to end Boko Haram.
"Now inspite of the language it is couched in shifting the goal posts, and despite noting and observing all the infractions and all kinds of destructive criticisms APC mounted on us when they were in opposition, the PDP as a national party will refrain from making comments on issues on the inadequacies pertaining to the war against insurgency in the country.
"For us in the PDP, we remain completely in support of the Federal Government in the war to eradicate insurgency in our land and we enjoin all Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the war against terror. The war by the terror group is not against the president, it is not against the APC neither is it against the PDP. It is rather a war being waged against Nigerians and the countrymen should stand as a united force without president to fight and defeat the terrorists.
"If we do this we will be fighting for a common good. We would send a message to those that seek to divide us that we are indivisible and that Nigeria is truly one country and that we want to remain so. We have decided not discuss things pertaining to the war against terrorism and we will stand by the president as the leader of country.
"But in doing so we will not hesitate or shy away from making our views known on other areas we feel that the government is not doing well.

On the recent nullification of many National Assembly seats, the PDP urged the INEC to ensure that such re-run elections were conducted early enough so that the people of the areas do not have to miss out in representation during debates on the national budget.
On Bayelsa, PDP warned that henceforth it would take it upon itself to ensure that the votes of the people count and that democracy was allowed to take root.

The group said they were pained about the lingering fuel scarcity which the federal government was still struggling to deal with.

In the same vein, the group condemned the composition of the federal cabinet which excluded the youths as not at best what the teaming Nigerian youths clamoured for under the change mantra.
