Otti’s victory, God’s gift to Abians –Umeh

Former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Victor Umeh has described the victory of the party’s governorship candidate in Abia State, Alex Otti, at the Appeal Court as a new-year gift to the party and the people of Abia.
He said Otti’s victory was a clear sign that the truth cannot be covered for too long, saying that Abia was now back on track and was set for greatness.
Reacting to the Appeal Court judgment where the election of the Governor of Abia State, Okey Ikpeazu, was upturned, Umeh told Daily Sun that APGA, as a party, had been vindicated. He said: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, subverted the will of the people. They made a mess of the electoral process, but we knew that in due course, the truth would prevail. We knew all along that Abians voted massively for APGA, but the will of the people was subverted. Otti’s victory signals a new era in the history of Abia.
“We are grateful to God that the truth has finally prevailed and Abians should be ready to experience unprecedented development.  Otti has always been in the private sector and he performed very well, so, his competence is not in doubt because he possesses all that Abia needs to develop and very soon, it would experience a turn around. We knew from the onset that those who tried to subvert the will of the people would be exposed and we thank God for this victory.”
He accused PDP of manipulating the last election and foisting unpopular candidates on the people.
Meanwhile, Assistant State Secretary for APGA, Mr Sixtus Chubueze Ezennaya, who spoke on the victory at the appeal Court expressed happiness over the victory. Hear him: “ We thank God that justice has come on board, we thank Him for hearing the cry of Abia people, that Alex Otti, whom we voted for has been declared winner of the election. APGA has come to stay, we are going to make Abia strong, which is the clamour of the people of Abia.
“Going to Supreme court is the proper thing for them to do, but we still believe that since the judiciary is the last hope of the common man, the same God who gave us victory at the appeal will also give us victory at the Supreme Court .
“We shall govern Abia and bring it to the front burner as one of the most developed states as is the case with states being governed by APGA .  Abia will be developed.”
