A total of 500 unemployed graduates in Kano are currently undergoing three-day training on career development and entrepreneurship skills.
The director, Graduate Internship Scheme, Peter Papka, made the announcement on Thursday in Kano at the commencement of the training.
He said after the training, the graduates would be expected to develop action plan that would guide them in the next few years of their lives.
“It is expected that from this training, those of you who have not begun to plan for their exit should do so without further delay.
“This is a call to those about exiting to refocus their energies into being employers of labour as against being an employee.
“Opportunities for being an employee in an organisation are getting slimmer and more stiffly competitive,” he said.
Mr. Papka expressed optimism that the skills and experience the trainees would acquire during the training would place them in a position to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Earlier in his remarks, Mahmud Muktar, the representative of the consulting firm, said the training was aimed at inculcating skills in the beneficiaries to make them self-reliant.
The training was organised by the Federal Ministry of Finance under the Graduate Internship Scheme.
