Sylva scores Dickson’s govt 1%

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Timpire Sylva, says 99 per cent of the people living in the state have not benefitted from the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson.

He, therefore, stated that the only way the residents of the state could repay Dickson was by voting against him on December 5.

Sylva, who is a former governor of the state, said this while unveiling his blueprint to transform Bayelsa State, according to a statement on Monday.

He said, “The people of Bayelsa are yearning for a change as 99 per cent of them are not feeling the impact of governance in the state. More than ever before, the need for a change in guard is now urgent to stop the situation. We need to reposition the state to deliver quality democratic dividends to the citizens and pull the people out of poverty.”

Sylva subsequently unveiled his manifesto which rests on four pillars.

“The four legs stand as the foundation of my administration. The four pillars include: enhancing revenue and diversifying the economy; job and wealth creation; wellbeing and security; and effective public service,” he added.

Sylva said his programmes were designed to influence the lives of the people of the state.

Explaining how he would actualise his programmes, the former governor said his administration would diversify the state’s economy through agricultural development, infrastructure renewal and tourism.

He said his programme on wealth creation would focus on education, trade and services as well as youth development. On wellbeing and security, he noted that the core areas included health care, peace and conflict resolution.

Earlier, the head of his campaign team and Minister of State for Agriculture, Chief Heineken Lokpobri, noted that about 75 per cent of the people in the state had indicated to vote against Governor Dickson next month.
