Gunmen kidnap Sylva’s cousin in Bayelsa
Gunmen have abducted Mr. Krinpere Douglas, a cousin to a former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, in the state.
Sylva is the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the coming December 5 election in Bayelsa State.
Douglas was taken away by gunmen to unknown destination on Monday. Southern City News learnt that he was kidnapped on Ogbia-Brass waterways when boats conveying Sylva’s supporters to a campaign rally were attacked by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
But the Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, said the police had yet to get a report on the incident.
The rally was billed for Okpoama and Brass community in Brass Local Government Area of the state on Monday.
The Director, Media and Publicity, Sylva Campaign Organisation, Mr. Nathan Egba, who was in one of the boats, confirmed that Douglas was the only one seized from the ill-fated boat by the abductors.
Egba said, “The victim was coming for the campaign but unfortunately, their boat was attacked by the gunmen who abducted and took him to an unknown destination. I pray that nothing will happen to him.”
