In Parts I and II of this Short Series, I laid out the historical foundation of this union and the reasons naysayers and doomsday analysts must have a rethink.
Countrymen and Women, I know that the cord of three strands is not easily broken. I know of three named strands of the Salat and I know that the Tasbih is divided into 3 parts of 33 beads each. I know that Abrahamic faith birthed a tripod, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. And I know that Nigeria is not only a cord of three so made by the confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers but also a cord of three major tribes.
I know that we are the most populous black nation on planet earth, sure not happenstance nor coincidence. I know that this is the only nation in God's world where Christian and Muslim worshipers stand arguably at a 50/50 ratio. I know that the map of Africa looks like a gun and Nigeria occupies the Trigger point.
I know that this is the only Country with three major tribes of about the same population. And instructively, I know that the third Political Head of independent Nigeria was called by the name GOWON (Go On With One Nigeria), surely not a coincidence.
Compatriots, we have so much that confers inviolableness on this union. We belong together. We share an awesome patrimony, and we owe Africa, the Black Race, the universe and indeed our people the priceless benefit of our rising. So, may we diminish our fault lines and make this union great.
Nigeria must rise to the challenge of NOW, the Eagle must Soar, we must make real the promises of democracy and pave the way to the Isle of global harmony.
