Micheal Asuelime: A promising Nollywood director stranded in London

Michael Asuelime is one of those rare embodiments of talents. He is a writer, actor, producer and superb director. As a reminder, he wrote and directed some of the most talked about stage plays in Nigeria in recent times. Plays like Mystery, Grey Area, Same Page, and Journey of an African Woman are some of his notable works.

As a versatile individual, Michael, in response to yearnings from his admirers and in pursuit of his dreams, started the process of releasing a major blockbuster movie into the market “Entreat”. The idea of Entreat was not to make a movie for the sake of it; the idea was meant to challenge the status quo and alter the rule. This explains why a movie production from this part of the world will go through the fundamental process of script conference, online and physical auditions, and meticulous pre-production stage amongst many other productive and essential activities. With all the painstaking preproduction planning, the main production still encountered some disturbing and threatening hitches. It was during the production, Nigerians experienced one of the most traumatic fuel scarcities in the history of this nation. The only time it was worse than that was during Civil War. At some point, production was suspended when willing and dedicated cast and crew could not access fuel for transportation and off course the election exercise…

It was only by some supernatural provision that protected some of the cast and crew from a disastrous accident on the Third mainland bridge at about 11pm moving from one location to another,  One can only imagine how amazing this movie will be when is finally released. With a beautifully written script and outstanding delivery of lines by a well balance cast, representing the different generations – old, young and upcoming, surely a great movie to look forward to. From the old generation are veterans like Sadiq Daba, Ms Aboaba, Kunle Coker; from the younger generation are Alexx Ekubo, Brian Okwara, Osas Ighodaro, the winner and 1st runner up of AMBO 4 Wole Ojo and Ajibade “Bade Smart” Omisade. The movie features the delectable Funlola Aofiyebi, four of Nigeria talk hosts Stephanie Coker (MTV Base VJ) Queen Ahneva (Classic FM) Eku Edewor (Studio 53Extra) and Zainab Balogun (Ebony life “The Spot”). If you think the list has been exhausted, then you are wrong. The movie also features the charming Dakore Egbuson-Akande and the amiable Wale Ojo. Undoubtedly, this will be one of the best movies ever from Nollywood. With this array of stars, you can be guaranteed of memorable value for money. For now, what is needed is continuous prayer for Michael Asuelime to get back on his feet to finish this innovatory enterprise he has embarked on.

Having concluded the production stage, it was necessary to start preparing for the next thing (Screening, home and abroad). This need took Michael Asuelime on a working trip to the United Kingdom. The primary essence of the trip was to prepare the way for the movie premiere in London and Atlanta city of USA. Sadly, just a few days after Michael arrived at London UK, he was involved in a terrible car accident that almost took his life. This accident badly affected his leg and he has been subjected to several surgeries to save his leg in the UK. One would have expected that the accident would be end or better still, slow down activities concerning ENTREAT, but on the contrary Michael and his team have become more resolute in ensuring the success and quality of Entreat. They have increased the intensity of their production commitment; the team has become bolder, stronger and more determined!

Michael Asuelime, believes that when obstacles come between you and your goal, its that time you need to double your effort, it’s a sign that you about to birth something real big, he thanks everyone who have been praying for his recovery, especially his fans, friends, family members and the actors who have been very encouraging, although he might not be fully back on his feet for another 6 to 9 months (according to his Doctor) but Michael promised to be back at home in no distant time and “ENTREAT” will be a film and half.

The “ENTREAT” movie website has since the accident gotten almost 200,000 direct hit from within and around the world www.entreatmovie.com
