In what seems like a shifting of ground and a product of the fence mending moves of Speaker Yakubu Dogara, the leadership of both the Senate and the House of Representatives met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday night.

The team made up of about 20 lawmakers was led by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara. The nocturnal meeting between the principal leaders of the Executive and Legislative arms of government held at the First Lady’s conference room in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Journalists were barred from the meeting, but p gathered that the meeting was to enable President Buhari enlist the support of the NASS leadership for the 2015 supplementary budget, as well as to familiarise with the lawmakers, especially as he will count on the support of upper chamber to confirm the ministerial nominees he sent last Friday.

Present at the meeting were President Muhammadu Buhari; Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio; House Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila among other principal officers of the red and green chambers.

Conspicuously missing however, was the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu.
